Client Reviews

I am reviewing this bike from the perspective of someone who is about 100 pounds overweight, 5'4", and 55 years of age. I also have lower spinal challenges which could possibly demand surgery, so I'm using this bike for weight loss, as nicely as common strengthening my back and enhancing my fitness level. I've lost 125 pounds in the last few years, partly by utilizing a recumbent bike for exercising, but nonetheless have a ways to go! I'm writing this to let the reader know that I assume working with a recumbent bike for cardio physical exercise is a great factor specifically if you are limited in how substantially weight-bearing physical exercise you can do.
1st of all, the bike was incredibly painless to place together. My readily-frustrated brother was kind enough to do this for me, and let me just say that I heard no yelling, cursing, or "what the hll is this?" the complete time. So...directions are great. In addition, the owner's manual (only about 20 pages) also has clear directions, but graphics and instructions on the console screen are easy to follow.
With this recumbent bike, all the adjustments in the workouts (such as resistance) are electronic and controlled on the touch screen console, as opposed to getting to turn this or that wheel manually -- truly convenient and faster. The console itself is rather compact as compared with some other bikes that I have observed, which I enjoy because it doesn't block the Television screen if you want to watch although operating out. (I encourage myself to workout by picking a Tv show -- Nancy Grace for me -- to perform out throughout each and every night.) Also, the console can tilt into unique positions to make viewing the most comfy for you.
The seat on this bike is well-padded, comfortable, and readily slides forward or backwards depending on the length of the rider's legs. The handles beside the seat are also at a comfortable height and position for you to rest your hands when riding. Even although there is a mechanism to tighten the seat to maintain it from wobbling side to side, it nonetheless does so a tad--you don't seem to be able to tighten it down absolutely. I am not sure if this is a problem or not, as in some techniques it tends to make your range of motion a tiny greater when peddling, but I would hope that it wouldn't preserve getting looser and looser, and have to maintain finding re-tightened.
A good feature is the handlebars beside the console, which my former bike had but were positioned too far away from the rider -- it takes the pressure off your back to grab onto handlebars and pull oneself forward, or just re-adjust your position, at instances throughout the workout. Pedals on the bike are sizeable and uncomplicated to fit your shoes into, while I tend to ride in my socks -- I have not encountered a predicament with that at all, as there is texture on the pads which support keep your foot into location (not slippery, in other words). The magazine rack is situated beneath the seat...adore that tiny handy feature. There is also an easy-to-install water bottle holder that is situated on the upright bar below the console. My last bike had the water bottle holder Below the seat--fairly inconvenient, specially is you happen to be a small hefty on the bottom side, as I am.
Appreciate the option of workouts, the "memory" so that you can track your progress (and compete against oneself), and that you can customize all the settings and such for two distinct riders. It is just plain entertaining to "play" with the adjustments on the console screen, so I get a quite very good warm-up just by pedaling while I am searching at all the settings and choosing a workout. I do not honestly use the heart rate monitor, as I'm utilized to assessing how difficult I am operating by how tough I'm breathing, but I could possibly use that function additional down the road. The strap that goes across your chest is pretty comfortable, and is adjustable for most anyone's size.
Yet another terrific feature is the fan -- yes, a fan! There is a small louvre that can be adjusted to blow the air in the direction you want, and at two numerous speeds. I only use the fan (just touch the screen) when I get pretty hot and sweaty, as it is blowing directly into your face, and could be irritating noisy for the entire workout.
I very advise this bike, and, specially with the 10 year warranty, I can't see myself obtaining another 1 for a long, extended time. Specifically if you're unable to walk long distances, this will give you an superb, sweat-filled, low-impact workout, for all fitness and weight-loss purposes. With the sleek look, it seriously looks nice in my living room, and absolutely everyone I know desires to get on it and ride when they come more than. I'm delighted with it!

I discovered the Nautilus R514 rather quiet, really sturdy, and comparatively very easy to assemble. I would make the following suggestions to any person buying this physical exercise bike.
1. Go to the Nautilus web site, uncover the Assembly Manual, download and print it. It consists of all the most up-to-date addendae, and the printout drawings will be bigger and less difficult to read.
two. Invest some time reading the instructions whilst examining the components before you start assembly. This may well keep you from having to reinstall some of the parts
3. The most current manual begins with removing the seat rail from the frame. Skip to Step two rather and install the front and rear stabilizer feet initially. This will preserve the frame stable while you eliminate the seat rail (step 1).
four. As you install the bolts in a distinct assembly, do not tighten them until you have all of them in location. This will support you to achieve correct alignment.
About the only complaint (a minor one particular) I have is the system of seat adjustment. To move the seat forward or rearward, you have to just about fully get rid of the knob that holds the seat in place. It's not a challenge if you are the only user due to the fact you can just leave the seat in spot as soon as you accomplish the correct position. Nonetheless, for multi-user groups, you might find the procedure annoying immediately after a when. It does, although, hold the seat fairly firmly with no wobble.
